PAGASETIC GULF
The sea at Volos: what to know
The forecast on this page is for a sea point off Volos (39.33° N, 22.95° E), in the Pagasetic Gulf. Values come from the Open-Meteo forecast and marine models (MET Norway as backup) and are updated several times a day.
More about the sea at Volos: wind, traffic, how to read the numbers
The Pagasetic Gulf is almost closed and usually calm, a good place for small boats. Northerly winds can still be gusty off Volos, and the passage out of the gulf by Trikeri can be choppy.
Volos is the gateway to the Sporades: ferries and fast boats go to Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos.
How to read the numbers: wind up to about 10 knots and waves under 0.5 m are usually comfortable for a small boat or SUP near the coast. Waves from 1 m and gusts above 22 knots are already serious for boats under 6 m. The rating follows the boat profile you choose.
